The Wilton Art® elementary art.2019 art competition was a first of its kind open to all two hundred 4th and 5th grade students at Wilton Manors Elementary School. In February 2019, students were invited to think out of the box in their use of materials, colors, design and more. Wilton Art® provided the canvas and the students had three weeks to design their entries. A chosen panel of judges worked very hard to determine the top 5 entries from each grade, then determined the 1st Place, 2nd Place, and three Honorable Mention finalists.
With the lead support of Publix® and 15 additional sponsors, we were able to underwrite a community-wide arts competition, including a month-long exhibition of all submitted art pieces at Publix®, Rosie’s Bar & Grill, and the City of Wilton Manors. In addition, a generous donation was made to the school’s art department.
The top 10 finalists’ entries were put on display at Claudia Castillo Art Studio in Wilton Manors. The winners were also awarded art-themed gift bags from Jerry’s Artarama in Deerfield Beach. Every student who entered received a personalized certificate and also a Wilton Art elementary art.2019 commemorative t-shirt. At the city-wide exhibition, the winning students were invited to the City of Wilton Manors City Commission meeting to be specially recognized for their achievements.
